Basil Pesto Chicken Drumsticks

Basil Pesto Chicken Drumsticks

These drumsticks are perfect for our Paleo Picnic! If you have the time marinade the chicken overnight but for at least 6 hours for an amazing chicken drumsticks.


  • 12-14 drumsticks
  • 2 cups fresh basil
  • 3-4 cloves garlic
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/4 cup Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper


  1. Take out drumsticks and lay on a poultry safe board.  Pat dry with a paper towel. Set aside.

  2. Add remaining ingredients into a blender and process until a dressing consistency.

  3. Take a large zip lock bag (or 2 depending on how many or how large the drumsticks are) Add chicken in bag(s).  Pour in basil dressing.  Release some of the air and seal.  Use your hands and massages the bag to coat the marinate over the chicken.  Place in a large bowl and refrigerate.

  4. Heat an indoor or outdoor grill at a medium temperature.  Grill for 30-35 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.  Turn every 10 minutes during grilling.  

  5. Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes to enjoy or cool completely then package for your Paleo Picnic.
