Tiramisu - Entertaining Style

  • 12 Italian ladyfingers and more for decorating
  • 1/4 cup brewed cold espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/4 cup coffee-flavored liqueur
  • 1 (8 oz)container mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1/4 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • To decorate: Mint sprigs and save some lady fingers

  1. Place ladyfingers on a rimmed baking sheet or large tray. Mix espresso and coffee-flavored liqueur and brush on both sides of ladyfingers to moisten. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight.

  2. In a large bowl, stir mascarpone, sugar, and vanilla and blend well.

  3. Beat cream in a large bowl with mixer on high speed until soft peaks form when beaters are lifted. Fold into cheese mixture. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.

  4. Cut each ladyfinger crosswise into 2-3 pieces. Arrange 5 ladyfinger pieces into each of 4 wine glasses or small bowls; drizzle each serving with about 1 tablespoon coffee mixture. Spoon about 1 1/2 tablespoons cheese mixture into each glass. Repeat layers once; sprinkle evenly with cocoa. Cover and chill at least 1 hour.

  5. Decorate with mint leaves and lady fingers that have not been dipped in the coffee mixture.

  6. Refrigerate until serving.
