Red Wine and Shallot Steak Sauce

If you are friends or family knowing that I am not a big steak fan is no secret!  I love cooking with it and serving it for my family and entertaining.  I will take a few bites but since I was a little girl steak was never a favorite.  My husband loves steak so when were making ribeyes the other night I decided to make a sauce.  I had a glass of wine in my hand and asked if I could use about 1 cup for a sauce and he said; "sure"..  So this is what I did and it was amazing!

I still only ate a few bites but the sauce was amazing!

I feel like a kid in toy store when cooking! I get so excited when using my OXO accessories!

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 large shallot, 2 tablespoons
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon of unsalted butter

  1. In your sauté pan over medium heat add in olive oil.  Once hot add shallots and cook for about 5 minutes; turning often using a wooden spoon.  Season with salt and pepper.

  2. Pour in wine and stir for 1 minute.  Lower the temperature to low and let reduce.

  3. When ready to serve add in butter and let melt.  (The butter gives a nice shine and adds an amazing flavor).

Enjoy with your favorite grilled steak!
