BGE Sweet and Spicy Ribs

We just love our Big Green Egg and since my husband has made Pulled Pork 3 weekends in a row I decided to change it up for Labor Day weekend and make some ribs!

Here is recipe for the rub! (this recipe is for 2 racks of ribs)

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Combine together...  Rub the ribs, wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Cindy's Note:  I made this for 4 of us so I cut the ribs in half to make everyone an individual serving. You can keep it whole or cut it half.  It was also easier for the EGG.  I just love my Simply Organics Spices!

Ingredients

  • 2 rack ribs, any membrane trimmed
  • Sweet and Spicy Rub (recipe above)
  • 1 cup apple juice, in a spray bottle

Directions

  1. Heat the Big Green Egg to 325 degrees F.  While the smoker is heating let the ribs come to room temperature.

  2. Open each package and spray or pour a little apple juice (2 tablespoons) then re-seal.  Add packages to the EGG and let cook for 1 1/2 hours.

  3. Remove and Uncover with foil.  Place on a large baking sheet and spray with apple juice.  Place back on the Egg and let each side darken up to perfection.

  4. I served these finger licking ribs with my Beans, Cole Slaw and Roasted Cauliflower "Mac and Cheese"  I have to admit this was the prefect weekend meal at our lake house with friends and family!
