Apple Cider

I made this apple cider in the slow cooker and it was perfect! I love how the house smelled so good. My friends thought I had a cinnamon candle burning in the house! I guess you could "spike" this cider!! Enjoy

My apple cider also follows the Paleo diet!

Ingredients

  • 10-12 hearty apples
  • 3/4 cup agave
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 orange, peel
  • 4 tablespoons cinnamon (or 4 cinnamon sticks)
  • 1 whole nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice

Directions

  1. Quarter your apples (keep peel and seeds).

  2. In your slow cooker add apples and fill with 10 cups water to cover the apples.

  3. Add remaining ingredients.

  4. Set slow cooker to low and set for 3 hours

  5. Pour through a strainer to remove orange peel, cinnamon sticks and seeds. Pour back to the slow cooker

  6. Use a potato masher for your apples to squeeze more of the juice out. Pour liquid back in the slow cooker and set for 1 more hour.

  7. You can store in an air tight container in your refrigerator for up to a week or you can freeze.

If you want to "spike" your apple cider: Add Rum to a pitcher then pour apple cider.. Enjoy
