Ever since the AeroPress Coffee Maker made its’ way into in my kitchen, my husband and I haven’t had to wait over a minute for a fresh cup of coffee since! It beats making an entire pot of coffee and wasting what’s left, allowing me to make up to just three cups at once which is perfect because we only have a cup or two in the morning anyhow. The difference between the AeroPress and other individual coffee makers such as Keurig is that with the AeroPress I have yet to experience any grounds in my coffee. The filters are extremely strong and don’t allow any water to drip inside on to the grounds during the brewing process. It is also extremely easy to take apart for cleaning. From past experiences I don’t like to deal with products where it’s a mess to take it apart and vice versa so the AeroPress is ideal because there’s very little involved with cleaning it. In a-lot of coffee makers, you have to worry about getting rid of the grinds that stick to the filter no matter how many times you rinse it off in the sink, but with the AeroPress paper filters you can just dispose of them and carry on grind-free. If you enjoy a nice, fresh cup of coffee then I highly recommend the AeroPress Coffee Maker!
Making Mother’s Day Special What makes Mother’s Day special – To me it is spending time with my family. When my kids were little they would make me breakfast in bed and they would be so excited and proud. I would receive a hand made personal card and sometimes with a poem. The rest of the day they would want to cook with me and of course baking. I would select a meal that would be easy for us to make together but the best part was the chocolate cake. For some reason I always cleaned the mess but the memories I still hold are priceless.
I am so excited that D & D Market is now expanding to Wethersfield, CT. I buy my beef, sausage, olive oil, and other lovely products from D&D and I am looking forward to seeing their new location. Nothing beats family-run stores, and the people at D&D make you feel part of the D'Aprile family!
As the third-generation steward of D&D Market in the city's South End, Daniel D'Aprile Sr. keeps close to tradition, right down to using his grandfather's recipe for homemade sausage.
I was recently on Cutthroat Kitchen (Nov 2014). If you are not familiar with the show Cutthroat Kitchen is a reality competitive cooking competition on the Food Network. There are four chefs that compete to win. When you first arrive to the kitchen Alton Brown provides each of us with $25K to use to purchase sabotages and what you have left (if any) goes to the winner. Alton Brown announces sabotages during each round and you can buy them then give them to any one or all competitors.
First let me talk about the casting process. I received a call from a casting associate asking me if I was interested in being on the show. She apparently found my profile on Chefs Roll. I immediately said; “no way”. I watch that show and the sabotages are crazy! Then she asked again and I thought why not! I am a competitive person and it will be fun!
