I just love apple season! I was using my stand mixer and making Raviolis and thought since it was out and being used how about a tart! This was a big hit for our guests and went perfect with vanilla bean gelato.
For the dough, add flour, salt and sugar in your stand mixer with the pastry attachment and combine on low for a few seconds. Add in butter and slowly increase the speed until the dough starts to lump together. Add in water a tablespoon at a time until the dough comes together. Move from bowl and place on a clean board or work surface. Knead for a minute and form into a disk them wrap and clear wrap and refrigerator for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly flour. Place disk on the prepared baking sheet and spread out using your hands to create an even thin layer dough.
Peel and cut the apples into think slices. Place apples overlapping into rows (I made 3).
Brush melted butter over the apples then sprinkle with sugar.
Bake for 45-55 minutes; rotating the pan once during the baking process.
Remove the apple tart by grabbing the paper and placing on a wood board. Slice and serve with ice cream, gelato or cream. Enjoy
